When my wife, Laurie, became a professional groomer a few years ago, she started noticing the same problem over and over: too many “grooming industry” tools didn’t hold up to real shop use—or didn’t feel right to use all day.

I’m Claude—Laurie’s husband and her in-house mechanical engineer. I’ve been designing and building products for years, and it was time to put that experience to work solving the everyday pain points in her salon.

My process is simple: watch the job, find what’s failing, design a better way, then prototype and test—again and again—until Laurie says, “Yep. This works.” Sometimes we nail it fast. Usually it takes a few rounds to get it right.

That’s the goal at Firehead Pet Products: tools that do what they’re meant to do, last through daily use, and remove the hassle—so groomers can focus on the dog, not the gear.
